Did You Know?

The I-55 Managed Lane Project study team conducted a survey to gather information about travel experiences on the I-55 corridor between I-355 and I-90/I-94. It provided an opportunity for respondents to voice their concerns regarding the existing corridor and to receive their feedback on the use of managed lanes.

The survey was released on November 1, 2012 and was available through December 15, 2012. Key finding from the survey include:

  • 75% drive alone
  • 78% were work trips/commute
  • 97% identified congestion as one of the biggest disruptions to travel
  • 25% rated I-55 traffic congestion as unbearable

If I-55 were rehabilitated, the following were noted as extremely important:

  • Travel Time Reliability
  • Increased Safety/Fewer Accidents
  • Improved Quality of Life
